How can I deposit a check with Qonto?

🇫🇷 This article only applies to companies registered in France.

Qonto makes check deposits accessible to you. This feature shall be used as an exceptional solution, in case your customers have no other available payment option.

Transfers offer more advantages, both in efficiency and security.

How to deposit a check on your desktop application?

To deposit a check on your desktop application, all you have to do is:

  1. Access your Qonto account
  2. Click on the Check Deposits section, then on Deposit a check
  3. Fill in the check information
  4. Send us your check by mail within a week to the address that appears on your screen. If we do not receive the check on time, we won’t be able to register the transaction.

How to deposit a check on your mobile application?

To deposit a check on your mobile application, it's a little bit different:

  1. Access to the Check deposits section in the More tab and follow the instructions,
  2. Fill in the check information
  3. Send us your check by mail within a week to the address that appears on your screen. If we do not receive the check on time, we won’t be able to register the transaction.

How to deposit a check when I have multiple current accounts?

Do you have multiple current accounts? Then, if you want to deposit a check (almost) nothing changes. All you have to do is select the account of your choice, and your check will be cashed in and credited to this account. If you want to cash in a check on a different account than your main one, you only can do it on your web app (for now).

Note: You don't need to endorse a check to deposit it.

The amount collected by check cannot exceed €10.000 per 30 running days, within the limit of €5.000 per single check (even if you have multiple accounts). Checks must be made out to the legal company name (therefore, make sure it matches the name on your Qonto account). ****We are currently working to resolve this limitation.

How long does it take to deposit a check?

After we’ve received the check by mail, it takes 24 hours for checks under €1,000 (and 15 days for other amounts) before the corresponding amount is credited to your Qonto account. However, this is only valid if you have an account on our own banking platform (i.e. if your BIC starts with QNTO).

If your account is still hosted on our partner Treezor's platform (i.e. if your BIC starts with TRZO), then all checks are processed within 15 days.

This is necessary because check deposits come with heavy manual processing to register the transaction and avoid fraud.
